The heavy snowfall last week offered us unique opportunity to serve. On Thursday evening during rec, about twenty students and staff bundled up and headed over to Prairie Ridge Health, the local hospital in Columbus to clear the snow and ice from vehicles in the parking lot. We arrived about an hour before shift change, armed with snow shovels and ice scrapers. Despite the wind and blowing snow, it took us a little over an hour to clear off all the cars in both the main parking lot and the staff parking lot. The doctors and nurses we met were very thankful to have their vehicles ready to go after working a long shift. We arrived back to WA in time for worship and study hall.

Wisconsin Academy is committed to training students to be “Fit to Serve.” Giving students practical service experiences like this is just one of the ways we are working to accomplish that goal.
