This past Monday, I had the chance to visit the Spanish II class in the “upper room” above the lobby. Decorated with flags from many Spanish-speaking countries, the room has one of the best views of the entire campus. Under the direction of Spanish teacher Mrs. Willyta Wamack, the students formed sentences like “Yo estudio Español,” and “Tu sacas fotos para la clase” from Spanish words scattered about the tables. In addition to learning Spanish in class, students have plenty of opportunity to practice their Spanish skills with fellow students who speak Spanish fluently. As students prepare for the workplace, they will find knowing another language very valuable.
