As part of a unit on the Sanctuary theme in the Bible, the Juniors in Bible III got a taste of biblical foods during an approximation of a first-century Passover meal (without the lamb, of course). In addition to the ceremonial foods such as bitter herbs, unleavened bread, and grape juice, the meal included melons, grapes, pistachios, almonds, figs, dates, and more. Special attention was paid to the parts of the meal that Jesus used to create the new communion service Christians celebrate today.
