Students Make Blanket for Elderly Friend

Each Friday, small groups of students meet with faculty for “Faculty Family” time. The students in Dan and Janine Show’s faculty family group decided recently to make blankets for people who needed them. Fernando said that he had an elderly friend at church who could use a lap blanket, and so the project started.

Each Friday, the group of five students measured, cut, and tied a small lap blanket under the direction of Janine Show. Over Thanksgiving break, Fernando will be delivering the blanket to his friend.

“It was fun, because we did it together,” said senior Ana Carreño, “and in the end, the results were great. We’re doing something for someone. And Mrs. Show told us we’re going to keep doing things for people.”

This is one of the many ways Wisconsin Academy is training students to be “Fit to Serve.
