Day by Day at WA

Last week Alumni Weekend converged at Wisconsin Academy from the 24th to the 26th. Former students traveled from all over the United States to come back to their alma mater – happy to see old friends, amazed at how the school had changed, and reminiscent of the memories made. Many programs were also scheduled throughout the weekend, such as special meals, worships, music concerts, and the Student vs. Alumni Basketball Game. During the basketball game, the juniors served snacks, and between the guys’ and the girls’ games, the gymnastics team performed. Each game ended with Alumni victory. On Sunday, April 26, the Alumni left after a special brunch accompanied by a concert, and the juniors and seniors started anticipating the next Sunday, when they would go to Washington D.C. for their History Tour.

Day by Day at WA

Last week in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the seniors took on an awesome mission project where they built a porch, erected fences, distributed literature, conducted a VBS and assisted with an evangelistic series. The week was full of memories – some teaching people about Jesus for the first time, and others of bonding with classmates. Wisconsin Academy’s senior class of 2015 will forever remember the joy they brought to the Lakota Sioux people of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Meanwhile, the students left at WA were experiencing what next year might be like without the seniors. They continued on with classes and tests, but it wasn’t a week without fun because on Tuesday evening, the night before homeleave, SA put on a bonfire with fellowship and s’mores. This week the students and staff are preparing for Alumni Weekend. Wisconsin Academy will be jam-packed with Alumni from many years ago to recent graduates. Students will be setting up the gym and cleaning up campus to make the best impression possible. Along with the activities this weekend for the adults, students will be participating in various music groups and the time-honored student vs. alumni basketball game with the WA Knights gymnastic team performing the half-time show! We hope that everyone at WA this weekend will be blessed with old and new memories.

Along with our normal quizzes, tests, and papers at Wisconsin Academy, seniors are scrambling to get ready for their mission project, the music department is hastily preparing for the invasion of 120 elementary students, while administration pulls together information and activities for visiting Academy Day students and parents. Thursday, the musically talented elementary students arrive and start the long hours of practice with Mr. Anderson, preparing for the Elementary Music Festival concert on Sabbath afternoon. On Friday, eager parents and students will arrive to tour our campus and learn how to enroll their students for next school year. This Sabbath, our band and choir will be performing for church, and in the afternoon the Choiralaires and bells will be performing with the Elementary Music students. Saturday night, WA students will enjoy an evening of fun at Junk Scramble. Early Sunday morning, the seniors embark on their long journey to Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to donate their time and hearts to God by serving the people of Pine Ridge. Day by Day at WA

Week of Prayer has begun, and the students of Wisconsin Academy have started the week with two worships per day of spiritual enlightening. Each talk has a different topic, but overall the speaker of the week, Pastor Jacob Gibbs, is following one theme: Thy Kingdom Come. Students have been encouraged to become a missionary (not necessarily in another country), and they had a perfect opportunity to do so in the Blood Drive. On Tuesday (sorry for getting the date wrong last time!), everyone was called to take part in either donating blood or volunteering to help. Hopefully, even after Week of Prayer, students will continue to want to help the community, and maybe even the world, in any way they can.
